Remnants Of The Past Remain For The Inca People To Re Visit Their Past: And For All Other Peoples To Visit And Share

By Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems

In the April, 2011 edition of National Geographic, the featured article on the cover was mentioned as ‘The Genius Of The INCA New Discoveries Reveal How They Forged a Mighty Empire’.  When discussing the Inca nation, we are delving deep into the history of Peru.  For decades, due to political unrest, archeologists had abandoned missions to dig for the secrets of the Incas.  The Incas had never developed a system of writing.

Presently there has been the revitalization of interest in archeological discoveries of the Incas and remnants of vast palaces have been discovered near their capital city,Cusco.  Much information reveals that the Incas were a warlike people—conquering other peoples and melding their customs and mores into their central communal spirit.

On the islandof Taquile, which is located in the middle of the great Titicaca Lake, there is a community of descendants of the Incas.  The people speak the same language; they play the same musical instruments, drums and wooden pipes; and they grow food in their fields exactly the same way as their ancestors did; and they visit a wall of stone that has remained for more than five centuries.  I wonder that if the Nazis had won the war, would there have been Hebrew people left in an isolated part of the world who could tell the story of their forefathers.  Read The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Wild Grasses to become aware of the struggles for survival of these people during WWII.

The Survival Of The Wild European Frog Is Exciting and Amazing To Behold Written by Cheryl Freier, author of four novels and one storybook, The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet

Posted by cheryl - January 27th, 2014

As was written in the National Geographic, April 2011 edition, the mating habits and the regeneration of a new generation of European common frogs is truly an amazing natural phenonenom.  The frogs emerge from the ice on the pond at Massif de Beaufort in the French region of Savoy, which is more than 6,000 feet high in the Alps, before the onset of Spring.  The call of the male for a female can be heard through the still thawing ice.

The frogs mate in a position which is called amplexus.  The male, who is smaller than the female, rides on the back of the female for days.  As the female releases her eggs, the male releases his sperm and fertilizes the eggs.  Because the frogs may go into hibernation for another month in this position, the size of the egg is much larger and gives the tadpole a better chance for survival.  Thus, the survival rate of the European common frog has better odds than the survival rate of other frogs.

Survival is the key.  Survival is the key for humans too.  For humans it is more than adaptibility to the outside environment.  For humans, it is the acceptance and the reflections on changes, transitions in life.  Survival was the key to avoiding being caught bvy the Nazis in WWII.  In order to survive, survivors had to readapt to new habitat, a whole new way of living.  Read and see for yourself how the Joseph Freier family escaped the Nazi onslaught in WWII. Joseph Freier and his family’s story is written in four volumns and listed on the www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com website.

Surviving Being Alone As A WidowIs Not Easy, But I am Doing It Written by Cheryl Freier (www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com) and author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet

There was one grace to all of the tragedy of losing my husband:  he was alive for six days after the diagnosis of pancreatic Cancer.  During that time, we talked, but mostly I listened.  He told me he had a blueprint for my life ahead of me.  He told me that most of all he wanted me to keep busy and as much as possible.  “Remember”, he said, “you have education.  You have been trained as a writer of novels.  You took many years of art lessons.  You can do it!  You will be able to take care of yourself”.

I knew that it was going to be difficult for me, but his pep talk has guided me through missing him and loneliness.  I finished writing four novels:  each novel was a sequel of the first—–together they told the story of my husband, Martin Freier’s life and about all of his achievements, and about his caring nature.  He was always a good father, always there when he was needed.  One of the books is entitled, “The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems:  In Memoriam To Martin Freier”.  Most of the poems presented in the book were written by him.  And it is through reading his poems that one can gain a glimpse about his thoughts and wishes.

All of Martin’s poems are a memoriam to him.  The poems span a lifetime of his reflections.  And, yes, there are some poems written about the war.  Yes, the war has ended over 70 years, but we must remember the tragedy that happened in Europe during WWII.  We must give reverence to the soldiers who fought for European freedom against a devil beast.  We must give praise and reverence to the few who survived the war and made a lasting contribution to everyone he came in contact with.  Read Martin’s poems and just for a moment think of yourself vicariously as a young boy in Nazi Slovakia.  It will do good for you.  Cheryl Freier

Remembering A Part Of History During WWII From Memories Of Stories My Mother-In-law, Anna Told Me

Remembering The History Of The War In Slovakia

By Cheryl Freier, author of two historical fiction novels of WWII (The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, and The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems)

Once when I went to visit my mother-in-law inBrooklyn, NYC, she told me

the story about the war during August of 1944.  She told how she and her family were hiding in a bunker under the ground and how a war waged on top of the bunker for days.  When at least two days passed after the sounds of the battle had stopped:  the hearing soldiers crying out in the night, hearing soldiers running above and near the top of the bunker, the silence from guns, and less smoke surrounding the area and penetrating into the bunker.  She explained in vivid details what her husband and two sons saw as they walked outside into the woods.  Bodies of soldiers were strewn all over the ground for as far as the eyes could see.  Many of the dead lay forever on smoldering smoke.  Many times the only way they could identify a soldier was by what was left of their uniforms.  Thousands of soldiers died.  Most of them were Czechoslovaks, Russians, and German soldiers.

It was not until many years later, when I wanted to write my husband’s story that I realized that the battle that she was talking about was the Battle For Dukla Pass, which is located to this day north of Svidnik and on the Polish border.  I hovered so over books on the battle and wrote down the details of what I remembered her telling me.  I was more determined than ever to write about the war to tell people their story of renewed faith and their determination to survive.

I wrote The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems as the first sequel, and completed the story by writing three additional books, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, and included my husband’s expressive poetry about the war and about aspects of life, when I wrote: The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems:  A Memoriam To Martin Freier.  Share the struggles of unbelievable courage.  Read my novels.

Looking Forward Into The Future To Help Others And Looking Back At The Past When Living Was Most Troubled, written by Cheryl Freier, author and illustrator

Looking Forward Into The Future And Looking Back At The Past, written by Cheryl Freier, author and illustrator

I attended a local lecture recently, which was given by Dr Jack Leitner, M.D. on his recent trip toEcuador.  My first thoughts were, “How thrilling to be a part of a new frontier”.  Yes, the doctor and all of the others who tended to patients for their stay of time are the new frontiersmen.  They are helping people who live in desolate areas of the world by diagnosing, preventing, and using modern medicines and techniques to help these indigenous people.  I am amazed at the total story, which started with a plane ride over theAndesMountains, up into the air and higher up several thousands of feet, and the setting up useable medical equipment in an area that had no previous medical equipment, medical facilities, or even sanitary plumbing conditions.

As I left the lecture, I remembered thinking that my husband, Martin, was exposed to these same ‘primitive’ conditions during WWII.  He and his family survived, but a key to their survival was treating the situation as the ‘primitive situation’ as it was.  They carved their own fishing poles and fished the waters of theSlovakianMountains.  They made fire the same way as primitive people had done centuries before, by rubbing two twigs.

I am happy to hear of an effort of a reversal of difficult life trends and the use of modern medicines to help some of these less fortunate people.  To learn more about my husband’s miraculous story of survival, read:  The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems:  In Memoriam To Martin Freier, and Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems.  Why not live the life of a character vicariously?   Cheryl Freier is the author of these novels, which are listed on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, and with the publisher, Author House.

Thoughts About A Baby Identification Bracelet by Cheryl Freier, Author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems

Posted by cheryl - January 4th, 2014

The newest year having arrived, it is time to distance myself from past happenings.  Nostalgic thoughts, however, get into the way many times.  Cannot help thinking a little about the past, but trying to view the past in a positive, forward going way.

It was during one of these moments of high-point reflexive thoughts that I found in one of the forward corners, a unique type of bracelet.  It was really special because it had been the foot bracelet that a nurse had placed on my foot after I was just born. It was the way of identifying a newborn:  A series of small pink beads were followed by a series of white beads, which contained the capital letters and spelled my last name.  I thought to myself, “Wow, my foot must have been so tiny, but it was like most infants.  I asked myself the question, “Why, what was the reason I found the foot bracelet on this day—many decades of years afterwards.  “Could it be that I should remember something from the past,” I asked myself this serious question.

I was born to a loving mother and father.  I was born after WWII.  My mother like so many other women of her generation who were of Judaic descent was affected by the war.  I can remember as a young girl seeing her sitting, mute on the edge of the bed.  Thinking no one was watching her, she spoke to herself as tears rolled down her cheeks.  She said, “I hope they do not rearm and come to collect the Jews here”.

That moment of time crystallized in my mind.  It was only later that I realized that my mother was gripped with fear.  An ocean and time had separated my mother from the Nazi Holocaust, but the impact of the fear of being identified as a Jew remained with my mother for a very long time.  I think that I was inspired to write about war time happenings at that moment.  Cheryl Freier is the author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems—stories related to the Holocaust history.  Visit Cheryl’s website at:  www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com.
