Taken from page 51, “the door to the house was open. They walked in and Joseph closed the door behind them. Joseph said, “We shall sleep here tonight, but this is a terrible war, and the Nazis will be back with more vengeance, and we may not be as lucky the next time. Luck has a way of running out. Tomorrow we leave. We will live in the woods.” No one said a word. They all knew that Joseph was right. They knew that Joseph had saved their lives thus far”.
