Remembering Memorial Day Even After The Day Passed

Posted by cheryl - May 27th, 2015

On this Memorial Day holiday weekend, we pray for the peace of men who died while fighting for our country in past wars. In World War II, many American soldiers died on European soil defending Americans and Europeans against the Nazi scourge and aggressions in Europe. Those few people who hid from the Nazis and survived told stories of horror and hatred that had never been heard of before in modern history.
This Memorial Day weekend corresponds in date, coincidentally, with the Jewish holiday of Shavuot in which there is the renewal of faith as the Jewish people celebrate the growing of new wheat and other crops. On Shavuot there is always a specific traditional memorial service for the remembrance of the dead. On this same weekend, the Christians of the world celebrate Pentecost.
On this Memorial Day weekend, we celebrate the liberation from the Holocaust. Let us always remember that it was because of the American soldiers that fought against the Nazis that we have freedom in our country. It is because of the American soldiers that the remnants of Jewish people has been able to live and to prosper. For a more detailed experience on World War II, read Cheryl Freier’s novels on the Holocaust. Her website is www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com. Her fifth novel, Echoes Resounding From The Past Hidden Truth Poems is being shown on the Good Reads website.

What Are My Thoughts On This Patriots’ Day Of 2014

My Thoughts On This Patriots’ Day

Which Reflect Upon General George Washington

Written By Cheryl Freier, Author And Illustrator:  www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com and www.CherylFreiersite.wordpress.com.  (The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems, and storybooks:  The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet, and Open The Gates In Jerusalem for the Queen Of Sheba)

Patriots’ Day should be celebrated in many more states of this country than in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and in Maine.  In Maine the holiday is spelled Patriot’s Day.  Patriot Day, another holiday is celebrated by all Americans as a national holiday as a result of the 911 terrorist attack.

Since Patriots’ Day is celebrated always around this time of year, it is meaningful to say that this holiday is in honor of the battles of Lexington and Concord, which began the Revolutionary War in this country.  The saga of our winning the American Revolution is one of grit and spirit in our national ideal of freedom for all.  Most of the military success goes to General George Washington and his leadership.  This is noted in history many times:  but on one time, as his escape with his men, horses, and supplies across the Erie River out of Brooklyn, New York to Manhattan without the loss of a single man.  General Washington was seen quite often praying to G-d.  This is to me the most inspiring story of all for without the help of the Lord, history would have been quite different and General Washington’s mission for a free United States would certainly have failed.

It is most interesting to read the history of countries and of wars.  Because I, too, was so impressed with General George Washington’s military strategies, the sense of spirit, and caring for his troops, and his unfailing devotion to his country, I have chosen General George Washington to be a major character in my next novel.  Please remember to read my blogs on www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com and www.CherylFreiersite.wordpress.com, and read my books:  The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems; and my storybooks:  The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet, and Open Up The Gates To Jerusalem For The Queen Of Sheba.  Thank you.  Cheryl Freier (CherRy)

There Are Men Who Do The Work of Angels

There Are Men Who Do The Work Of Angels

There Are Men Who Fight For Freedom And Pay For It With Their Lives
By Cheryl Freier (author of The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems)
Time goes by so quickly that it is hard to remember the events of the Solidarity movement in Poland. The propounding issue of the Solidarity movement was that the Polish people wanted their freedom back from Russia and the Russian philosophies of Communism.
Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko was a Priest during this historical time; he was tireless in his efforts to help his people gain freedom from Communism. Popieluszko broadcast his sermons over Radio Free Europe. He was an arch anti-Communist. The Sluzba Bezpieczenstwa tried to stop him and were afraid that he was being too popular amongst the people. They arranged for him to die in an automobile accident, but the Priest eluded his captors. They kidnapped the Priest and killed him. His body was found in the Vistula Water Reservoir near Wloclawek on October 30, 1984.
(Yahoo)”In 1997 the Roman Catholic Church started the process of his beatification and by 2008 he had the Servant of God status”. My husband, Martin Freier, a survivor of WWII was helped by the Priests in Slovakia. The Priests provided the family with Christian identification papers and they were able to live a little bit longer in their own home while the war was raging. Read my novels which are written in memoriam to my husband, Martin Freier. Particularly, in The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, there is a chapter that speaks of the gratitude that my husband and his family felt towards the Priests and the Catholic people.
Let us all hope and pray that no nation or people shall ever be under the bondage of another and that freedom for all will prevail. Cheryl Freier’s website is www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems –read her posted blogs also on http://cherylfreiersite.wordpress.com.
