Some Information On The Discovery Of Insulin As A Treatment For Diabetes By Cheryl Freier

Some Information On The Discovery Of Insulin As a Treatment For Diabetes  Written by Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems

The vast majority of our adult population remembers the living nightmare that the fear of catching polio was. Thankfully, two bright doctors, Dr. Salk and Dr. Sabin discovered cures.  No child has to suffer the debilitating, crippling effects of polio any longer.

Before the discovery of polio as a disease, the nightmare killer disease for children as well as for adults was diabetes.  People had been dying of diabetes for centuries, and the discovery of insulin as a means of regulating the blood sugar levels in the body was finally discovered in 1923.  In 1923 the Nobel Prize was awarded to Dr. Banting and Dr. Macleod for the discovery of how to extract the hormone insulin from the Islets of Langerhans.   The hormone treatment was then used for insulin injections and saved hundreds and thousands of lives.

My husband must have had diabetes before the onset of cancer of the pancreas—most likely.  I am committed to many causes:  first is the memory of my husband and the goodness and honesty that he stood for.  Read my books which are written as a memoriam to him, Martin Freier.  The first book written was The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems.  All of my books can be purchased from the publisher, Author House, or Amazon.com, or Barnes & Noble.  Thank you.

On This Holocaust Remembrance Day Written by Cheryl Freier

Posted by cheryl - April 27th, 2014

It is hard to believe that only 70 years ago or so, a ‘Holocaust’ policy of killing innocent people was implemented and carried out by the German government and its soldiers.  The crimes which were perpetrated by this group of barbarian psychopaths was allowed to continue until the military might of surrounding countries like England, and Russia, and the United States managed to subdue to subdue and crush the serpent insurgents in their own den.  Then the bells for freedom rang out for all who survived.

Today’s Holocaust remembrance ceremonies commemorate those who perished.  The holiday is also a tribute to those who survived and to those who fought tirelessly for freedom.  But this Holocaust remembrance ceremony is also a message that we must guard against people who propose to do wrong things; it is a message that we must also question ourselves and remind ourselves that freedom is priceless; we must remind ourselves, and family, and friends that the Bible has told us from generation to generation to ‘love one’s neighbor’.  We must remember the short phrase of enriching, powerful, meaningful words which were written by Hillel, “Do onto others as you would want others to do to you”.

Cheryl Freier understands about the Holocaust, because her husband, Martin Freier was a Holocaust survivor.  She has written The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems in memoriam to him.  She has published his poems and some of his musical compositions and published them in the book:  The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems as a tribute to him.

What Are My Thoughts On This Patriots’ Day Of 2014

My Thoughts On This Patriots’ Day

Which Reflect Upon General George Washington

Written By Cheryl Freier, Author And Illustrator:  www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com and www.CherylFreiersite.wordpress.com.  (The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems, and storybooks:  The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet, and Open The Gates In Jerusalem for the Queen Of Sheba)

Patriots’ Day should be celebrated in many more states of this country than in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and in Maine.  In Maine the holiday is spelled Patriot’s Day.  Patriot Day, another holiday is celebrated by all Americans as a national holiday as a result of the 911 terrorist attack.

Since Patriots’ Day is celebrated always around this time of year, it is meaningful to say that this holiday is in honor of the battles of Lexington and Concord, which began the Revolutionary War in this country.  The saga of our winning the American Revolution is one of grit and spirit in our national ideal of freedom for all.  Most of the military success goes to General George Washington and his leadership.  This is noted in history many times:  but on one time, as his escape with his men, horses, and supplies across the Erie River out of Brooklyn, New York to Manhattan without the loss of a single man.  General Washington was seen quite often praying to G-d.  This is to me the most inspiring story of all for without the help of the Lord, history would have been quite different and General Washington’s mission for a free United States would certainly have failed.

It is most interesting to read the history of countries and of wars.  Because I, too, was so impressed with General George Washington’s military strategies, the sense of spirit, and caring for his troops, and his unfailing devotion to his country, I have chosen General George Washington to be a major character in my next novel.  Please remember to read my blogs on www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com and www.CherylFreiersite.wordpress.com, and read my books:  The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems; and my storybooks:  The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet, and Open Up The Gates To Jerusalem For The Queen Of Sheba.  Thank you.  Cheryl Freier (CherRy)

What Are Some Of My Thoughts On The Passover holiday? By Cheryl Freier, author and illustrator

Posted by cheryl - April 14th, 2014

What Are Some Of My Own Thoughts On The Passover Holiday?

Written by Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden truth Poems and The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems (books which were written on real experiences that happened in WWII—the significance for this holiday is that they found out on Passover that the war was over.)

The story of Passover is a timeless classic story about the conflict between evil and goodness even though the story was written in the Bible.  What adds to the story’s uniqueness and depth is that even though the Egyptian Pharaoh is punished for his sins, he nevertheless never relents his hatred and desire to hold the Jews as his captives.  What is most captivating and real about the crisis between good and evil is that the Pharaoh unremittingly thinks of and admires himself as a G-d.  Had he had just a little bit of maturity, he would have realized his main limitation—that he was mortal just like the rest of us.

What is strikingly captivating about the story, however, is that for many years Moses is thought of as a King, and he was raised from infancy by the Pharaoh’s sister to be a king.  Moses, however, never succumbs to pride and never deifies himself.  He is honest and forthright throughout his life.  What makes him a powerful leader of the enslaved people, the Jews, is that he thinks like a mortal and wants to be a mortal, thereby raising the hopes of G-d for mankind and its goodness.

There are many lessons to be learned from the story of Passover, but one must hope that in any crisis that good surfaces and that evil dissipates.  Above all else, we must be honest to ourselves and then we can be honest and forthright to people.  Wishing you a healthy and hearty Passover holiday, I am the wife of Martin Freier, a man whose truth shined always throughout his life, even though he was exposed to the Nazi terror as a child.

It Is Announced: Archeologists Discover Where The Gas Chambers Were Located In Treblinka

Archeologists Discover Where The Gas Chambers Were Located In Treblinka

By Cheryl Freier, author of four holocaust novels; one, The
Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, and another:  The Wild Grasses Hidden

Truth Poems.  A fourth book contains the poetry that Martin Freier wrote.  He was a Holocaust survivor.

Slowly but surely the truth of horrible, wanton killings of people is unraveling before our very eyes as modern technology is being used to pinpoint the existence of gas chambers at the Treblinka gas chambers.

Outside tiles with the engravings of the Star of David were discovered after 70 years; these tiles affirmed what witnesses to the horror claimed.

Someday, hopefully soon, other sites will be dug up by archeologists.  My husband, Martin Freier, survived the holocaust that also raged in Nazi
Slovakia.  His family and he hid in an underground bunker in the woods in Slovakia.  Maybe someday there will be funds to explore these woods in Slovakia for the remnants of their survival bunkers.  Read my four novels.  All novels are written in memoriam to my beloved husband, Martin Freier.  All novels tell the story of his accomplishments during his lifetime.  The first two novels, The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Wild Grasses hidden Truth Poems tells about him and his family while they try hard to survive the many perils of the war.  Cheryl Freier

In Following Lawrence of Arabia, I Am Learning About A Person Who Had a Goal In Life

FollowLawrenceofArabiaFor His Quest For Learning

An interesting historical figure to follow is Lawrence of Arabia.

He had many talents and, of course, will be remembered from the memorable film, Lawrence Of Arabia.  What is striking to me, particularly, is his journey throughSyriaandPalestineto learn about the fortresses that the crusaders built.

This story features him wandering through the deserts ofArabia, drawing pictures of castles, taking careful notes about the castles, taking photographs about what he saw, and gaining the insight that he had an uncanny ability to assimilate into different cultures.

This is truly a story of many triumphs.  Read my books:  The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, The Wild Grasses, Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems, and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems.  The book, The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems includes poems written by Martin Freier, who showed exemplary courage as a young boy in outwitting the Nazis inSlovakia. Despite his brush with death, his poems teach us about loving each other, appreciation of the call of the winds of nature, and best of all, a respect for an elderly mother.  Cheryl Freier is a writer of novels and a writer and illustrator of children’s storybooks.

Brilliant Military Strategy In The Battle Of Stalingrad Eventually Won The War

The Importance Of Stalingrad, Russia To The Turing Point Of WWII

Written by Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems

While the war waged on in the western and the eastern fronts of Europein WWII, the German Command launched a massive attack against Russia.  When they reached Stalingradin August of 1942, fighting was particularly fierce.  The Germans deployed the 6th Army and highly regarded segments of the Panzer Army.  The Luftwaffe supporting the armies by constant use of guns, and machinery, and dropping bombs, until all of the City ofStalingrad lay in ruins.  Fierce house to house fighting continued while both sides sent in large numbers of men for reinforcements.

To end the stalemate, the Russians on November of 1942, launched a policy of fiercely attacking this operation by conquering the weaker armies on the flanks which were held by the Hungarians and the Romanian soldiers, and when the Russians succeeded, the 6th Army of Germany was completely cut-off from all supplies and reinforcements.  They remained to fight against the Russians until all of their ammunition and food supply ran out.  But by February of 1943, the remnants of the 6th Army capitulated to the Russians.

The Russian victory turned the tide of the war.  The American forces were beginning their fight against the Germans at this time.  Their policy of Lend-lease helped to supply needed trucks and warfare supplies and thus the Russians became confident that they could defeat the Germans.  My husband, Martin Freier, was in the woods inSlovakiaat this time.  Every day of living through the war was a comfort.  Read his powerful messages in the poetry which he wrote in the book, The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems.  Cheryl Freier edited this book, and the book is one of a series.

Enter Into The Pristine World Of The Chimborazo in Ecuador by Cheryl Freier

Did You Know That You Can Reach A Point On A Mountain That Is The Furthest Place From The Center Of The Earth?

Written by Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems

The place is furthest from the Center of the earth and it is located in theAndesMountains, on theCordillera Occidentalof the Andes of Central Ecuador.  The location is 93 miles southwest ofEcuador’s capital,Quito.  And the area is often called the Chimboraza.

On  a clear day, one can see the summit of Chimboraza from the coastal city ofGuayaquil, which is nearly 90 miles away from the summit.  The story of the uniqueness of this part of the country is told by the natives, as they know from stories handed down from generation to generation that this special area used to be the head of a volcano; but it is classified today as an inactive volcano.  There is a natural protective ecosystem, fauna system, which is formed around theChimborazo, which protects the habitat of the wildlife in this area.  One can see the colorful body colors of black, white, and reds, and a combination of a red body with a white head on the sheep-like animals:  the vicuna, llama, and the alpaca.

This whole area, this part of the world is a ‘hidden truth’ that very much reveals itself as one travels to the area.  It was a ‘hidden truth’ during WWII that some parts of the Slovakian mountains were exceptionally beautiful and pristine and revealed itself as one escaped further into the woods away from the Nazis who took over the towns and persecuted the towns’ people.  Read Cheryl Freier’s The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, and The Wild Grasses Hidden Truth Poems, and her other books.

Nature’s Natural Twist To A Seashore in Dorset, England Written by Cheryl Freier, authuor/illustrator www.thegraylinghiddentruthpoems.com

A Bizarre, Natural Twist To A Seashore In England

Written By Cheryl Freier

Author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, and three other novels, and two storybooks:  Open Up The Gates In Jerusalem For the Queen Of Sheba, and

The Shepherd Boy And The Sheep Alphabet

The City of Dorset in England is located on the sea at the bottom of the English coastline.  One of the City’s claims to fame is its West Bay Beach where the uniqueness of a towering, sprawling, rough-cut, rust-colored mountain emerged with an explosive debut one day long ago out of the sea onto this Dorset West Bay Beach.  It is a sight to behold and one of nature’s sprawling cliff–twists of fame.

Another of the mountain’s claim to fame to this present day is its living colony of mute swans and their nesting habits. (p.18, National Geographic Traveler, February/March, 2014).  The story is told that in the 1040s, monks of the Benedictine Order raised the swans for banquet dinners.

One is always in awe of people’s ability to use the natural habitat and its animals for food.  During the Nazi invasion of Slovakia, as is written in the book:  The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, Joseph Freier and his family ate the grayling fish; the fish spawned in abundance in the lakes of the wilderness and mountains in Slovakia.

The Beginnings Of Urban Planning Happened First In England During The 1880’s: It Was A Deritive Of Overcrowding And Impoverished Conditions By Cheryl Freier, author of The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems, And Other Novels And Storybooks

The Beginnings Of Urban Planning Happened First In England During The 1880’s

Written by Cheryl Freier, author of The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems, and Blossoms Around The Circles Hidden Truth Poems

What started out to be a most difficult situation of overcrowding and worn slums in theLondonCity, became a dedicated cause of one man who wrought about changes unheard of before.  Ebenezer Howard was so shockingly appalled at the overcrowding and the way people lived in the slums—-more than one family in one room, disease-ridden hostels, rats infesting the tenements, no running water—just to mention a few of the many hardships that the poor and the downtrodden, and forgotten people faced.

Ebenezer Howard professed that the poor be helped to live outside the cities in garden cities where the air was fresh and their children could run around outside freely.  He wanted people to own their own homes.

The mindset was switched from cities and pollution of the Victorian London to individual pride in ownership, renewal, environmental control, and community spirit.  As the article in the December 2011 edition of the National Geographic explained:  the first such ‘garden city’ was built 1907 in Letchworth.  Ebenezer proudly boasted that this was the beginning of a developing urban utopia that would take hold throughout the world.

The town ofMicholovcewas well-designed and a vital part of the Judaic history of the Slovakian area.  World War II destroyed the city’s beauty and left the people who survived a monumental task to rebuild.  People did survive.  They cleaned the articles of war off of the streets.  They rebuilt their synagogues and churches.  They began life anew.  It was the spirit of the Bible that helped many to have the courage to rebuild.  Read The Grayling Hidden Truth Poems and other novels written by Cheryl Freier to get an understanding of these times and the hardships that people overcame.
