Martin Freier Was A Survivor Of The Nazi Holocaust In Slovakia
I thought when I presented Martin’s book of poetry, Hidden Truth Poems, into the book The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems that there were only three poems in the collection written about the World War II. The Holocaust situation in Nazi Slovakia had affected every man, woman, or child living in the country. I have just realized that Martin’s writing of poems on death is virtually writing about death and dying in the Holocaust. For a most powerful reading experience and memorable reading experience, read the book The Day Of The Hidden Truth Poems.
In Martin’s poem, The Shadow Of Death, he writes:
“The Shadow of Death
Keeps following us wherever we wander
Every day,
Making our future far too uncertain,
Spoiling things for us in every way”
