The content of this storybook is very similar to the discussion of the Bible verse; G-d tells Samuel to go to the House of Jesse and to anoint one of his sons as the future King of Israel. David is found in the fields. He was the eighth son of Jesse. The storybook also contains an alphabet book of sheep.

The significance of the grayling fish is that the fish spawned in the waters in the lakes in Slovakia and was plentiful. The grayling fish, however, fights fiercely to survive after it has been taken from the water. The grayling fish became the Freier family’s symbol of survival. They survived the war.
